If you are told
that Russians don't communicate abroad, don't believe that! Just come to RUBRIC
that during 15 years has been uniting those who cherish Russian values,
traditions and native language.
It all started in
Birmingham under the unchallenged leadership of Nadezda Loginova, an organizer
with sparkling ideas and inspirer of our victories. During the years of
intensive teamwork and irrepressible optimism the Russian-British Сlub managed to achieve a lot. There were celebrity
guests at the Сlub meetings, and RUBRIC activities were highly appreciated by the Russian Embassy, the
Foundation RUSSKIY MIR and the Federal Sgency ROSSOTRUDNICHESTVO.
Russian Orthodox
parish, Women's Club, Art Club and Russian library were founded and, which is
very important, RUBRIC opened eight schools in Central England that means
giving Russian-speaking children the joy of communication and education in
their native language.
There were lots
and lots of great things done and discoveries made - it is hardly possible to
count them all. It's easier to browse through of RUBRIC Newsletter that gives
detailed information about various activities of the Russian-British Cultural
Centre since its foundation.
RUBRIC celebrated
its 15th anniversary by running the RUSSKIY MIR festival with
Russian folk songs and dances, heartfelt words of gratitude and, of course,
with a large feast. Friends of the Club came to the Anniversary celebration,
among them there were balalaika players from Manchester, dancers from Leeds,
singer Olga Verizhnikiva-Harding, ballerina Elena Koricheva, violinist Julia
Northridge and many others. Their great concert as well as wonderful
performances of the pupils of RUBRIC schools from Darby, Worcester and Coventry
made the holiday especially vivid and memorable.
Happy Anniversary, RUBRIC!
